How many times have we asked ourselves this question?

Whether it’s a blessing that we didn’t expect, an opportunity that presents itself out of nowhere or an assignment from God, we all have contemplated our worthiness at times.

If we are honest with ourselves, that feeling is birthed from the guilt and shame of things that we have already been forgiven for. The choice to hold on to things that God has since forgiven us for results in undue stress, doubt and anxiety.

Overlooking God’s forgiveness equates him to an earthly being incapable of looking beyond our faults and seeing our needs. Isn’t it interesting the way we make God a teddy bear and the boogie man simultaneously?

When we’ve been good for three whole days we feel worthy of his love, comfort and grace, but the moment we make a mistake or miss the mark set by either ourselves or others we are so quick to deem ourselves unworthy.

This usually results in a downward emotional spiral that causes us to get stuck in the quicksand of our thoughts. Remember this: Ephesians 2: 8-9 says, “For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so that no one can boast.”

Baby, your thorn is necessary! Your mistakes are merely demonstrations of God’s grace and mercy. Your past is not dictating your future. The same things you believe for others are meant for you as well. You are worthy, you are loved and no, you’re not hearing things — HE CALLED YOU!
